About Us
We were established in 1985 and have a wealth of experience of different types of residential construction including timber frame, sectional, period, thatch, stone built and traditional.
John Brailsford was engaged in his early career working for firms of Chartered Surveyors, Estate Agents and Auctioneers.
John started his own practice in the early 1980's principally involved in surveying and valuations for primarily private clients. John's experience naturally evolved and included roles acting as an expert witness for many insurance companies and solicitors providing expert witness reports including a landmark case in the High Court in 1996.
In recent years the team at John Brailsford Ltd has expanded to include experenced Chartered Building Surveyors. This has allowed us to expand our service offering beyond our core expertise in the Residential field to include a range of commercial surveying and management services.

Experience:
John established the business in 1985 having a wealth of experience on most different forms of residential property construction. He has particular knowledge and skill of period properties and their methods of construction. John has practiced as a valuer of residential properties since the early 1980's prior to which he worked for various Chartered Surveyors, Estate Agents and Auctioneers. John's experience has given him an in-depth knowledge of buildings and the specific defects and issues surrounding them and he has regularly practiced as an Expert Witness providing evidence to the courts where there is dispute.

Claire Newlove-Hill BSc (Hons) MRICS

Experience
Claire's early career started in the building surveying division of a large multi-disciplinary organisation where she was exposed to a wide range of building services and survey types. It was here that she took a keen interest in Residential property and specifically historic and heritage type building surveys. Claire then moved to another large consultancy based in the centre of Nottingham to gain further experience in the Commercial and Residential sectors. Following this she set up her own company. She has since joined forces with John Brailsford to provide clients with the benefit of her expertise in the residential and commercial sectors.

Geoff Daniel BSc (Hons) MRICS
Chartered Building Surveyor
Experience
Geoff's career began working for a Corporate Building Surveying practice undertaking primarily residential property and measured building surveys. He became a skilled architectural technican preparing designs, specifications and submissions for local authority approval on both private residential and commercial housing schemes. After obtaining his degree in Building Surveying he joined a large multi-disciplined surveying practice in Nottingham. During his 26 years there he worked with many blue-chip clients progressing to Director level where he managed teams of surveyors across the North and Midlands Regions. His love of surveying has recently led him back to grassroots surveying joining the team at John Brailsford Ltd.
